RSGB Club of the year Competition Rules


Overview

The RSGB Club of the year Competition is an RSGB Regional Team initiative designed to encourage local radio clubs to do more in their communities to promote amateur radio.

Summary

This is a regionally based competition for local clubs. All winners will be recognised though the pages of RadCom. To ensure objectivity, the winners in individual regions will be chosen by regional managers from other regions. The national winners will be selected by the RSGB Board.

The criteria by which the competition will be judged are, in order of importance:

  • Contribution to promoting amateur radio
  • Contribution to training and education
  • Charitable Activity
  • Club activities

Procedure

Each region is responsible for organising its local competition and any entry must in the first instance be submitted to your local RSGB regional team. The national rules are as follows.

Rules

The following are the national rules for the competition but they may be supplemented in individual regions.

  • The award is open to any RSGB affiliated group, club or society.
  • The award is not open to individual radio amateurs.
  • Only one entry per RSGB affiliated group is allowed.
  • All entries must be made electronically, in Microsoft Word (4-page/361KB Word document) (or similar). Postal entries etc are not allowed. Entries must be sent in the manner specified by the regional team and they will be acknowledged on receipt by the regional team
  • Applications must be made on the official documentation and in no more than the number of words stated on the application form. Any application that exceeds the number of words stated on the form may be disqualified from entry.
  • A maximum of six photographs per entry in support may also be sent as separate attachments, with a maximum 15 words of text per photograph. These words are in addition word allowances specified on the application.
  • All material submitted must have occurred in or been connected to the year being judged.
  • All applications will be judged independently. Regional competitions will be judged by someone not based within the region (usually an RSGB regional manager) and the national competition by the RSGB Board.
  • Only one award per region will be issued. Regional winners will be automatically entered into the national competition and this will award a trophy for the national winner and two runner ups.
  • The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • All entries become copyright of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). The RSGB may use and publish photographs and any information sent by entrants. No part of any entry may be published in part or full by any other publication without the prior and full written permission of the Radio Society of Great Britain.
  • All applications must be submitted in the manner specified by the closing date of midnight 31 January each year.
  • Entrants agree to the above terms and conditions.

Application form

Only the official application form (4-page/361KB Word document) is to be used for this competition. No alterations to change the substance of the form are allowed by either the applicant club or by the regional team.
