Welcome to the EMC pages
How you can help the RSGB and how we can help you.
These pages are here to help you!
Radio amateurs experience problems with EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compability) from time to time, when transmitting equipment is located close to other electrical or electronic equipment.
There are measures in place to protect both the radio amateur from in-bound interference, and the user of other equipment from the effects of transmissions from radio amateurs.
With a little care, and significant diplomacy, problems can be minimized or eliminated.
The RSGB EMC committee leads the Society’s work in this area, and there is a network of regionally-based advisors who can provide hands-on advice.
But the first step is to properly analyse and assess the causes of the interference depending on whether you are causing interference, or experiencing interference to your reception.
Please select an area of interest from the menu on the right.
For the latest news on the RSGB’s campaign against emissions from PLA/PLT devices, see our PLA/PLT pages.
