22 Nov 2005 - German Fox-Oring results (19 & 20 Nov).

Robert Vickers made it to third place in the M60 category. He was unlucky to miss one of the transmitters on day 2 which he put down to poor receiver sensitivity in the cold weather. With 9 transmitters to locate each day and a 7.2km min distance on day 1 and 5.3 km on day 2, it was no pushover. Steve Stone came in 5th in M50 on both days (9 transmitters on day 1 and 10 on day 2). Graham Taylor G3MDC ran on day 1 only and placed 6th in M60.

25 Michael Dunbar 105.50 (5 TXs found)
David Williams was back to form and came in as the highest placed West European in the M40 race. He managed to beat all three members of the German team. Both our guys found all the transmitters inside the 150 minute time limit. The limit speaks for itself in terms of the difficulty and length of the courses.
M60 Class
There was a rare West European winner in Paul Rudolf HB9AIR who got round the 6.2km (min dist) course in 70.42. Robert Vickers G3ORI made 16th place in 128.46 and was shattered at the end

Bob Titterington was the first UK entrant to make it onto the podium when he placed second in the M60 144MHz race today. The results will be posted on the DARC website in due course. Also competing in the Ruhrgebeit were Robert Vickers, David Deane and David Williams.

31 July 2005 - First ARDF Championship in UK
The RSGB ARDF Committee met yesterday and has decided to promote the first ever ARDF Championship in the UK using the IARU rules.
The event will be run in the Aldershot area on Sunday 13th November and will take the form of a single band 144MHz event. We will be using the Dutch system to identify an overall winner. Each competitor runs his or her appropriate course according to the IARU age groups. The overall winner is the individual who finds all the transmitters on his/her course and has the lowest time. This system is not perfect but it is impractical for us to run a championship that caters for all nine age groups separately.

David was able to combine a business trip with pleasure when he participated in the Dutch Championships on 2 July. He was placed 3rd in M40 in both the 144 MHz race and the 3.5MHz race. He was 'in touch' with class winner Alex Buurlage PA1FOX in both races and it does show that UK competitors are beginning to be competitive in western European competitions at least.
