Welcome to Special Event Stations

Applying for a Special Events Station
Every year thousands of amateur radio special events are enjoyed across the UK. If you are an Advanced licence holder you can organize one too. This section tells you how to obtain a special callsign for your event.

Special Events QSL guidance
A special event is a unique opportunity to design a memorable QSL card which will find its way into treasured collections around the world. Find out here how to correctly utilize the RSGB QSL Bureau to dispatch the large volume of cards your special event station will generate.

JOTA and Radio Scouting
Radio Scouting is the unique combination of amateur radio with the Scouting programme, and Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is the highlight of the Radio Scouting year with thousands of Scouts from all over world talking to each other over amateur radio.

World Thinking Day on the Air
On Thinking Day members all over the world think about the international nature of Guiding. In World Thinking Day on the Air (TDOTA) Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the world use amateur radio to exchange messages.

Permanent Special Event Stations
These stations are allocated a permanent callsign and are set up in a whole range of places of interest across the UK and abroad. They can also be created for recurring special occasions. This section contains a list of current UK permanent special event callsigns, guidance on operating at a permanent station, and advice on how to apply for your own permanent special event callsign.
